An lovingly made small batch kombucha, Wunder-Pilz is a tasty fermented beverage made from a culture grown on a mixture of fair trade organic teas and herbs, pure cane sugar and chlorine-free, chloramine-free and flouride-free water. Unlike many commercial kombuchas available today, Wunder-Pilz kombucha is a crisp, dry and not too sweet fully fermented kombucha. A refreshing alternative to sugary sodas and teas and with a range of B-vitamins, acids and probiotics. Because of the nature of the culture itself and an aerobic fermentation process there can be around .5% alcohol present, much like non-alcoholic beer or fruit juices.
The aim of Wunder-Pilz is to consistently produce delicious drinks that mix the health benefits of kombucha with the specific energetic and healing properties of organic herbs. Wunder-Pilz Kombucha tea was founded in Austin, TX in 2010 and can be found on tap and at farmers markets across Austin. (Wunderpilz is a German word referring to the kombucha culture itself, it translates to 'miracle mushroom'.)
*Li Ching-Yuen was an herbalist and martial artist and purportedly had lived an extrodinarily long life when he passed away in 1933. His famous response (above) to being asked the secret of his long life was the inspiration for the four varieties of kombucha we produce. By categorizing his response into energetic qualities and with the help of an Acupuncturist and Herbalist we set out to test various combinations of herbs and teas in an attempt to match those same energetic qualities with our ingredients. We think the resulting combinations are as effective and interesting as they are delicious and we think you'll agree!
